Yes timing chain replaced lifters replaced. Rotate the engine clockwise with a ¾” socket until the timing mark on the balancer lines up with the “0” mark on the timing tab on the cover:

Look at the timing mark, then calculate how many degrees of slop in the chain. Then use a wrench to turn the engine backwards & leave the timing mark at 15 degrees on the crank pulley.

I have a 93 jeep wrangler 2.5 and it backfire and died a couple days ago i thought it was timing chain but after getting it apart i found the distributor teeth were chewed off do i installed a new one and now everytime i put it in time (the timin chain) and then when i crank it it ends up 180 degrees. Rattle went away but returned shortly afterwards.
